Hyacinthoides ignoramus

The purply-blue flowers I asked about a couple days ago (in the long shot with the pink and white tulips) are undoubtedly hyacinthoides, aka. Bluebells. They have a marvelous light hyacinth smell, which I hadn't noticed outside amongst all the other spring smells. Seems kind of obvious now, and seems like I could have checked with wikipedia and white flower farms without enlisting your help, but I guess hindsight is 20-20 and I am lazy.

We cut them all today, or 90% of them. We are adding 3-way mix (topsoil, compost and sand) to the "garden" (if that is what you call a section of bare clay in which grass does not grown and whatever falls there may or may not flower). I will be turning the dirt that is there, and pulling all these lovely bulbs out to the edge of the border, and loading the 3-way mix on top of it all so it can be planted properly and mulched. Since I'm going to be doing all that digging and turning in the next several days, we thought today, Mother's Day, might be fitting to cut all the flowers and enjoy the abundance inside.

This is the little bouquet that FemiDommi made for my desk. It's so pretty!
