Or rather, Not-Birthday Party Blogging. Girl-Child awoke this morning with a fever and sore throat. We always like to let our guests leave with something, but a cold is not one of the preferred gifts. So the party has been postponed until next Saturday.
However, we already had gotten the cake(s). Above is the Hamburger and French Fries Cake (purchased, if you couldn't tell). The "fries" are definitely angel food cake; we're not sure about the "burger", because it is a standard 9-inch diameter, smaller than angel food cake pans tend to be. It has just been put in the freezer, fingers crossed that it will not be too dried-out next weekend.
We are not without housewifery skills. Below is the family Cake, a dark chocolate cocoa cake with pumpkin-cream-cheese filling and a cream-chocolate glaze. We'll eat this now.
