We interrupt this long closing about the kitchen to post a short video. This is a screen test from a 1922 Kodak use of Kodachrome. Yes, that's 1922, about 10 years before the earliest color motion pictures to hit the silver screen. It is a gorgeous piece -- not much to speak of, just a starlet preening for the camera in different poses and outfits -- but the color is amazing, and the feeling of looking back into history is incredible. She doesn't move the way modern actresses do for the camera. And the textiles(!) Mesmerizing.
I found this on tywkiwdbi, of course. I recommend, actually, clicking on the video and watching it from within youtube.com (which you will be automatically directed to) -- because then you can see the whole frame, not just the portion that fits in my blog.

Fantastic! and in tribute I've also published an early film at Bride of Cranky Old Geezer..
One thing I found interesting about the clip was the physical differences between the actress portrayed, and modern actresses, especially her flat chest.
DaBris
Flat chests -- very much fashionable at the time. And in the late 60's through the 70's into the 80's.
What goes around, comes around. I'm sure we'll see flat chests in vogue again in about 10 years.
I find the beauty standard of those days -- the round face -- to be the most surprising. That hasn't come back into fashion since.
Splendid! The colors were awesome, and I loved the hairdos.
